Dr. Ashish Chandra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Quantitative Methods, at the College of Business. He received his Ph.D. in Quantitative Methods from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. Prior to his Ph.D., he obtained his MS in Operations Research from the Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai and BS in Mathematics from UM-DAE Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, Mumbai.
His research interest lies in the intersection of topics related to computer science, mathematical optimization, operations research, and applied probability. In particular, he is interested in developing optimization techniques for solving various NP-Hard stochastic optimization problems, which find applications in many risk-averse decision-making systems. During his Ph.D., Dr. Chandra has chaired and presented his research work at prestigious optimization conferences including INFORMS, IISE, and the International conference for continuous optimization. He has also collaborated with researchers from the computer science department at Purdue University and Argonne National Laboratory.
His teaching interest lies in the fields of Operations Management, Management Science, Business Analytics, Probability, and Statistics. At Illinois State University, he will be teaching Statistical Reasoning and Operations management.
During his spare time, he could be found playing some sort of sports or running around preparing for marathons.
