Minor in Insurance
Insurance companies hire a variety of majors (including accounting, finance, marketing, management, mathematics, and computer science) who have some background in insurance.
Through the insurance minor at Illinois State, students have the ability to enhance their employment opportunities within the insurance field.
Individuals who might look to supplement their primary studies with a minor in insurance might include any and all business majors, mathematics and actuarial science majors, computer science majors, economics majors, communication majors, and a host of others.
Requirements
Completing the minor in insurance involves completing 18 hours of Finance, Insurance, and Law Courses. That coursework must include
- FIL 185
- FIL 240
- FIL 250
- Any three of the following courses:
- FIL 342
- FIL 345
- FIL 350
- FIL 351
- FIL 352
- FIL 353
- FIL 354
- FIL 355
- FIL 380.04
- FIL 382
Please note that FIL 389.10 is strongly recommended in addition to required courses. Also, non-business majors are restricted to no more than 24 hours of business instruction.
