Research Awards
The Outstanding Researcher Awards were first proposed by the University Research Council in 1984 to recognize individuals actively involved in research. Awards are given to individuals who are beginning their academic careers, to those who have conducted research at an outstanding level among peers in their college, and to those who have conducted research at an outstanding level among peers at the University.
College of Business Outstanding Researcher Award
Purpose of the award: The purpose of selecting a faculty member to receive the College Research Award is to recognize a colleague who demonstrates:
- A consistent record of scholarly productivity;
- Significant contributions to his / her discipline;
- A research record considered outstanding in comparison to his/her colleagues in the college and consistent with the record of previous College of Business Outstanding Researcher award recipients.
The award also confirms the college's commitment to support and reward the scholarly productivity of the faculty.
Outstanding University Researcher Award
This award recognizes faculty members who are acknowledged for:
- Their research nationally or internationally,
- Their quality of scholarly work
- Their contribution to profession / discipline.

Research Initiative Awards
This award recognizes faculty members who have initiated a promising research agenda early in their academic careers. Nominees must be Illinois State University tenure-track faculty members who have completed five years or less in a tenure-track position at any institution of higher education. Nominees must currently be involved in research and must show promise of making a significant contribution to their fields of study.

Cross-Disciplinary Team Research Award
Formerly known as the Outstanding Team Research Award
The Cross-Disciplinary Team Research award recognizes exemplary collaborative research conducted by multiple investigators from different disciplines. Team nominees and the selection committee will adhere to the definition of research as provided by the University Research Council and appearing in the Criteria for the Evaluation of Scholarship and Creative Productivity. This award recognizes research teams of two or more investigators for their (a) nationally, even internationally, visible research, (b) high quality of scholarly work, and (c) contribution to multiple professions/disciplines.
Research teams selected for this honor will receive a $3,000 award.
