Management Minors
Minor in Business Administration
Business Administration minors at Illinois State are able to supplement their major coursework with a background in business. The minor is designed for students who want to study business,
but don’t want to specialize in one of the customary functional areas of business (accounting, marketing, finance, or management).
The Business Administration Minor is not available to majors in the College of Business.
Requirements
- Required courses: MAT 120 or 121 or 144 or 145; ACC 131 132; ECO 101; ECO 102; FIL 185, 240; MKT 230; MQM 100 (or ECO 138 or GEO 138 or POL 138 or PSY 138); MQM 220.
Minor in Business Environment & Sustainability
The minor in Business Environment & Sustainability helps to increase awareness and knowledge of the relationships between business and the physical environment. Students within the minor will be better prepared for further study or careers in organizational leadership, corporate social responsibility, risk management, and other sustainability-related areas.
Requirements
- 27 hours required
- Required courses (9 hours): ECO 101; ECO 102; MQM 220.
- Foundation courses (6 hours): MQM 323 or MKT 230; ECO 255 or MKT 236.
- Environmental Systems (6 hours): Choose two from the following: AGR 203; BSC 202; BSC 365; GEO 205; GEO 276; HSC 156; GEO 211; AGR 225; TEC 160; TEC 170; AGR 234; HSC 145; and HSC 204
- Social Systems (3 hours) Choose one from the following: AGR 201; COM 274; ECO 202; ECO 236; GEO 334; PHI 236; POL 357; POL 236; SOC 330; TEC 329.
- Applied Courses (3 hours): Choose one from the following: MQM 340.15; MQM 398; GEO 305; FCS 334; AGR 346; HSC 257; or independent study.
- NOTE: No more than 10 hours of courses may be selected from the student's first or second major department.
Deadline to apply for the fall semester is September 30th, and the deadline for the spring semester is February 28th

Minor in Entrepreneurship
The Minor in Entrepreneurship is a cross disciplinary approach to teaching basic entrepreneurial skills to undergraduate students from diverse major programs. The minor provides a hands-on, transformative approach allowing students to better practice their passions through private business endeavors.
- 18 hours required
- Required courses: - IDS 113 - MQM 128 - MQM 328 (should be completed as the capstone course after completing all the required and elective courses)
- 9 hours of electives. May include discipline specific coursework, independent study, or an approved Professional Practice or Internship A maximum of 3 hours may be taken as an Independent Study
- NOTE: Students completing the Minor in Entrepreneurship are encouraged to participate in the Start-Up Showcase towards the end of their minor coursework.
Minor in International Business
A minor in international business at Illinois State University helps to broaden a student's experience by supplementing their major within the College of Business with a more global prospective.
A minor in International Business is only available to students who major in the College of Business
Requirements
- 22 hours required
- 12 hours to be chosen from ACC 340; FIL 312, 344; INB 190, 245; MKT 350; MQM 349, 350
- 4 hours required in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at least through the 115-level
- 6 hours of area studies electives from Geography, History, Politics and Government, or Interdisciplinary Studies. Consult with advisor for specific courses.
Minor in Organizational Leadership
The minor in organizational leadership helps students develop interpersonal and team skills, as well as further develop leadership experience.The program assists in preparing students for leadership roles within their chosen profession either within profit or not-for-profit agencies. Courses in this curriculumfocus on the field of organizational behavior and leadership by analyzing theoretical and proactical approaches to studying management.
The minor in organizational leadership is not available to majors outside the College of Business.

- Required courses: ECO 101; ECO 102; MQM 220, 221, 380, 382, and one of the following: MQM 340, 383, 384 or 386.
