DELTA SIGMA PI SCHOLARSHIP

Founded in 1980, Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) is the oldest professional business fraternity at Illinois State University. With over 1,000 alumni and 17 distinguished faculty initiates, DSP prides itself on its strong brotherhood and four pillars: Professionalism, Community Service, Social Activities, and Fundraising. The Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship was established in February 2017.  The Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship will be used to provide an annual scholarship to a student within the College of Business who meets the following criteria: 

• Excellence in character
• Demonstrates financial need
• Grade point average of 3.0 or higher
• Major in Business
• Open to all members of any Registered Student Organization affiliated with the College of Business, preference will be given to a Delta Sigma Pi member.

COREY PARKER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This scholarship is to promote diversity in the College of Business by providing financial assistance for students meeting the following criteria:

• Student must be enrolled as a major in the College of Business
• Student must demonstrate financial need.
• Student must be a member or active participant in ACUMEN, Association for Latino Professionals For America, National Association of Black Accountants Inc., Women in Business, Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance, Black Student Union or a similar registered student organization that aims to help students create community around a common racial, ethnic, or cultural identity.
• Scholarships will be awarded for a one time award.

GEORGE AND JOYCE LEHAN HOPE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The scholarship provides financial assistance for students who meet the following criteria

• Student must be enrolled in the College of Business
• Student must have demonstrated financial need
• Student must be a member of Beta Gamma Sigma
• Scholarships will be a one time award

WILLIE BROWN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This fund was established by Willie Brown, retired executive vice president at State Farm Insurance Company, a native of Bloomington, Illinois and 1973 graduate of the business administration program at Illinois State University. This scholarship was established for the purpose of providing substantial financial support for a minority student of African American experience or any non-traditional student majoring in business at Illinois State.

At least one $3000 award will be made on an annual basis. The award will be used for educational expenses and will be credited to the recipient/s account with Illinois State University.

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior College of Business major in good standing at Illinois State University with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75/4.00 or higher
• Be a student of African American experience or a non-traditional student of any race
• Demonstrate a commitment to civic engagement through meaningful involvement in community service and civic activities
• Financial need will be considered when two or more applicants have apparently equal qualifications.
• Submit an essay focused on why the student is interested in a professional career in business, why they selected their major, and how a scholarship will impact their academic and future life endeavors
• Submit a current copy of their resume

 STEVEN E. BAILEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Stephen E. Bailey Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the family of Steven E. Bailey in 1997 following his untimely death. Steven E. Bailey was a sophomore, majoring in business, when he died. He was an active member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. 

One $1000 will be made on a one-year annual basis.  Scholarship funds will be disbursed through the Financial Aid Office after the 10th day of the fall semester.

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled at Illinois State University as a major in the College of Business
• Demonstrate an interest in business as a professional career
• Must be a graduate of Plainfield High School or be a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity
• Demonstrate an unmet need for financial aid

DWB DREAM MAKER'S ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The DWB Dream Maker's Endowed Scholarship Fund (initially a pledge of $20,000) was established in 2010 by Sharon Rossmark. The purpose of this scholarship is to support United States soldiers or veterans, including National Guard and Reservists, and their dependents who are majoring in business at Illinois State University. Preference will be given to entrepreneurship majors and students studying abroad in France through one of the programs offered by the International Business Institute and the Office of International Studies on the campus of Illinois State University.

Sharon established this scholarship to honor her parents, David and Willie Mae Brown. David is a veteran of WWII, serving in the European Theater and participating in D-Day on June 6, 1944 at Utah Beach. He married Mae in January of 1943 three days before being drafted in the army.

Sharon Rossmark is an independent business consultant. She consults with businesses on establishing e-commerce solutions for excess inventory. Her solutions based consulting approach is designed to increase revenue by strategically integrating existing sales/distribution systems with an online global marketing effort.

Qualifications:

A. A United States soldier or veteran, including National Guard or Reservist, or be the dependent of a soldier or veteran.

• Qualified applicants must be majoring in business at Illinois State University.
• Preference will be given to entrepreneurship majors and students studying abroad in France through one of the programs offered by the International Business Institute and the Office of International Studies on the campus of Illinois State University.
• A scholarship recipient may apply for additional awards through his/her senior year if they maintain at least a 3.0 Illinois State University GPA and show progress toward earning a degree in business - future awards will be based on the amount of available funds and quality of the candidate pool.
  

B. Have achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative Illinois State University GPA

• New freshmen must have a high school GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or) have an ACT composite score of 24 or above.
• Transfer students must have a transfer GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Reviewed the website related to David Brown and his service during WWII - http://www.davidbrownsdday.com.

C. Submit a minimum of two paragraphs on his/her thoughts on sacrifices that soldiers make to protect American freedom.

D. Submitted a one to two page personal statement describing the applicant's background and how the scholarship will impact his/her career goals.

E. Demonstrated a commitment to serving others through involvement in school and/or community activities.

F. Include at least one letter of recommendation.

G. While need is not to be a prime consideration, it may be a contributing factor in cases where two or more applicants have apparently equal qualifications.

H. The award is to be used for educational expenses. The award money will be credited to the recipient's account with Illinois State University. One non-renewable $1000 Award will be distributed. 

 FERENGUL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This endowment was established in 2010 by Corey and Melanie Ferengul to help current business students who are actively participating in paying for school while focusing on their studies. The Ferenguls grew up in working class families in the Chicago suburbs and worked several jobs during summers, holiday breaks and on campus to finance the majority of their education.

One $2500 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified business student at Illinois State University on a one year annual basis. Scholarship funds will be disbursed through the Financial Aid Office after the 10th day of the fall semester.

Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior College of Business major in good standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
• Demonstrate involvement in school and/or community activities and/or have substantial work history (please list the number of hours worked per week to help fund your education expenses).
• Demonstrate an unmet need for financial aid as determined by Illinois State Financial Aid Office and/or federal regulation and/or personal circumstances

EDMUND AND JANE DOBSKI ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

The Edmund & Jane Scholarship was established by Julie and Bob Dobski in 2010 to honor Bob's parents Edmund and Jane Dobski.  The couple used a $600 investment from Edmund's mother, Sophie Dobski, to start and then expand to a multi-location of three full service grocery stores on the northwest side of Chicago. 

Julie and Bob credit their success to the lessons learned from Jane and Edmund; i.e. provide a quality product, work hard and treat your employees fairly, all of which are fundamental lessons from a hardworking couple.  The Edmund and Jane Scholarship will ensure that these tenets continue to be taught and valued in today's business environment.

One $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified business student at Illinois State University on a one year annual basis. Scholarship funds will be disbursed through the Financial Aid Office after the 10th day of the fall semester.

Qualifications:

• Must be an incoming freshman or a current College of Business student in good standing at Illinois State University.
• Demonstrate academic achievement, as evidenced by:
  • Incoming freshman - a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.00 scale and graduated in the upper quarter of his/her high school class and/or have a composite ACT score of 25 or higher.
  • Continuing Illinois State student - a cumulative Illinois State GPA of 3.25 or higher.
•  Demonstrate an unmet need for financial aid as determined by Illinois State Financial Aid Office and/or federal regulation and/or personal circumstances.

KENNETH T. SR. AND DEBORAH A. GLOVER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Kenneth and Deborah Glover graduated from Illinois State University in 1973, Kenneth with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Deborah with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Over the years they've supported their belief in quality education and providing support to others, whether it be financial or volunteering their time and experience. The Glovers established this scholarship fund as a continuation of their support to education and the needs of others.

Currently this scholarship recognizes an aspiring sophomore who has positioned themselves for early success at Illinois State University and their future career. They will hold membership in at least one business student organization and have volunteered their time and energy to serve others.  They can articulate their vision of a future career and have already established goals based on that vision.  Please note, specific requirements of this scholarship are determined annually by the College of Business Dean's Office based on the recruiting and retention needs of the College.     

At least one $3,000 awards will be made on a one-year annual basis.  Scholarship funds will be disbursed through the Financial Aid Office after the 10th day of the fall semester.

Qualifications*:              

• Must be a current sophomore business major in good standing at Illinois State University with a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
• Must be an active member in at least one College of Business registered student organization.
• Demonstrate involvement in volunteer activities or have substantial work history

CHARLES NORMAN DEAN'S SCHOLARSHIP

The Charlie Norman Dean's Scholarship Fund was established in 2014 in memory of Charlie Norman, a 1988 finance graduate of the College of Business. The Dean's Scholarship will be awarded annually to students majoring in business at Illinois State University. It was Charlie's wish that scholarship recipients "pay it forward" in the future when they are successful in their careers and able to make their own contributions to support the College of Business.

One $5,000 dollar award will be made on a one-year annual basis. Scholarship funds will be disbursed through the Financial Aid Office after the 10th day of the fall semester.

Qualifications:

• Must be a current business major in good standing at Illinois State University with a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
• Qualified applicants will demonstrate academic and personal achievement.

CONNIE FAKO SHOEMAKE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Connie Fako Shoemake graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977 and a Master of Science degree from Northern Illinois University in 1988. Connie has held various executive and management positions in sales, marketing, business partners and technical support throughout her thirty year career at IBM. Connie is also a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Chicago Chapter of Women in Technology and the Chicago Executive's Club. She is a former board member of the Illinois Technology Association and currently sits on the Chicago Mayor’s Council on Technology.

Connie is a current member of the Illinois State University College of Business Advisory Council and decided to establish this scholarship as a continuation of her support for education. This scholarship will help single parents, and the children of single parents pursue a business degree at Illinois State University.

MAGGIE WEBB ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Maggie Webb received her Bachelor of Science degree in 2005 with a major in Business Administration from Illinois State University. She was employed by Von Maur in Omaha, Nebraska. Her life was tragically ended in a random act of violence in December, 2007 at the age of 24. Maggie was known as a strong leader, kind, supportive friend, wise mentor, and someone who always had a lot of energy. She always thought of others first and her smile brought warmth to your heart.

The Maggie Webb Endowed Scholarship was established for the purpose of providing financial support for College of Business students. It recognizes Maggie Webb who died tragically in December, 2007.

One $1000 dollar award will be made on a one-year annual basis. Scholarship funds will be disbursed through the Financial Aid Office after the 10th day of the fall semester.

Qualifications:

• Must be a current sophomore, junior, or senior college of business major in good standing at Illinois State University with a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
• Must demonstrate a commitment to serving others.

MARK AND LINDA HAUPTMAN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Mark Hauptman graduated from Illinois State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and received his CPA certificate that same year. He was active in Alpha Tau Omega fraternity during his years at Illinois State University. He began his career at a public accounting firm in Bloomington, Illinois. Linda Dean Hauptman graduated from Illinois State University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. She started work at a community mental health center in Canton, Illinois, then moved to Bloomington and worked at the same accounting firm as Mark. They married in 1981, moved to Oklahoma in 1982, and then to Texas in 1989, where they currently reside in Fort Worth.

Mark worked in public accounting for five years and then transitioned to a career in the Insurance industry. He spent 20 years with HealthMarkets, Inc. where he held several accounting and executive positions, including CFO and Executive VP of Sales and Marketing. He retired from HealthMarkets, Inc. and in October, 2009 became part owner of a plastic injection molding company manufacturing jars, caps, liners. pencils and closures for the cosmetic industry. Linda continued working in human resources until they moved to Texas. She then became a full-time homemaker and raised their three daughters. Mark and Linda decided to establish this scholarship fund as a continuation of their support of education.

PHILLIP AND LEE ANN (BAKER) CLARY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Phillip S. Clary and Lee Ann (Baker) Sauers both attended Illinois State University as non-traditional students seeking a future career in accounting. Both graduated from Illinois State University in the spring of 1983. But, as far as they can remember, they never met while at Illinois State University, even though they were pursuing the same major, had the same professors, and were both initial inductees into the Beta Gamma Sigma academic honor society. Phil stayed at Illinois State University to pursue an MS in Accounting and Lee Ann began her career as an auditor at Laventhol-Horwath’s Chicago office. They finally met when Phil accepted an internship at Laventhol for the 1984 audit season. They married in 1985 and have remained in the Chicagoland area ever since.

For both Phil and Lee Ann, Illinois State University was a restart to both their personal and professional lives. The years spent at Illinois State gave them a great foundation for their careers, and without Illinois State University they would not have found each other. With that in mind, Phil and Lee Ann established a scholarship to assist non-traditional students, including married students and students with children, pursuing degrees in the College of Business.

One $800 dollar award will be made on a one-year annual basis. Scholarship funds will be disbursed through the Financial Aid Office after the 10th day of the fall semester.

Qualifications:

• Must be a current business major in good standing at Illinois State University.
• Preference will be given to non-traditional students, including married students and students with children.

WILLIAM MOTCHAR SCHOLARSHIP

William Motchar ’85 is President and Chief Executive Officer for Navis Global, the leading finishing machinery supplier to the global textile industry located in Charlotte, North Carolina.  After graduating from Illinois State University, Will spent 13 years in progressing responsibilities in sales, marketing, and global business. He earned his M.B.A. from Wake Forest University and became Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing at Navis Global and later promoted to President and CEO.  In 2011, Will purchased the company, and Navis now has sales and service offices in over 60 countries.  Will is a new member to the College of Business Advisory Council at Illinois State University, and will be inducted into the College of Business Hall of Fame in 2017. This scholarship is Will’s way of paying it forward to support undergraduate majors in the College of Business.

One $500 award will be made on a one-year annual basis.  Scholarship funds will be disbursed through the Financial Aid Office after the 10th day of the fall semester. 

Qualifications:

• Must be accepted for enrollment or enrolled in good standing at Illinois State University with an undergraduate major in the College of Business.
• Reflects a spirit for civic engagement by showing involvement and leadership in school/campus organizations, registered student organizations, government, or similar organizations in the broader community
• Preference will be given to students who are a current or former resident of a small or rural town/community.

ROBERT “BOB” LUTT SCHOLARSHIP

Kris Lutt ’06 MBA and his wife Becky established this scholarship in 2016 to acknowledge his father and Illinois State University for his career success.  Kris is a proud graduate of Illinois State University and this scholarship is his way of paying it forward.  The scholarship will support undergraduate and graduate majors in the College of Business with a preference for students with an agricultural background or those who plan to work within the agricultural industry.

Kris Lutt is currently the President of Sweeteners and Starches at ADM.  He has worked at ADM since 1986, serving in various leadership roles including President of Golden Peanut Company LLC, President of Milling, President of Specialty Feed Ingredients, and Vice President of Corn Processing.

Kris earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska and an MBA from Illinois State University.  He has served for several years on the College of Business Advisory Council at Illinois State University and was inducted into the College of Business Hall of Fame in 2017.

Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student or graduate student in the College of Business in good academic standing.
• Students must demonstrate an agricultural background or plans to work within the agriculture industry following graduation.
• Reflect a spirit of civic engagement by showing involvement and leadership in school/campus organizations, registered student organizations, government, or similar organizations in the broader community.

One scholarship of $1000 will be awarded to a qualified business student at Illinois State University.  The award is to be used for educational expenses.

C.W. CHAN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

Chee Wai Chan '87 & ’89, came to Illinois State University as an international student. 

He received his undergraduate degree in Marketing and his Master of Business Administration from Illinois State University.  He started this scholarship to help lessen the financial burden on international students or other students with financial need who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in the College of Business. 

Chan and his wife Doris currently reside in Singapore.

Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in the College of Business in good standing with a cumulative grade point average of 3.3/4.00 or higher.
• Students must demonstrate financial need.
• Preference will be given to an international students who is enrolled in the College of Business that shows a need for financial support due to unforeseen circumstances in their home country.
  • If there are no international students available for this award, preference will be given to a student from the College of Business who has an unmet financial need.  This student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a qualified business student at Illinois State University.  The award is to be used for educational expenses.

ANDREW C. JACKSON SERVANT LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

The Andrew C. Jackson Servant Leadership Scholarship was established in 2015 by Andrew C. Jackson '80. The endowment was established for the purpose of providing financial support for business students majoring in Accounting Information Systems, Business Information Systems, General Marketing, Sales, and/or Entrepreneurship.

Qualified students will be actively engaged in leadership roles on campus and/or in the community. Preference will be given to students that have a record of accomplished leadership, service to the community, and who help others to develop and perform at high levels. The goal is to help provide financial support for students working to improve their professionalism and leadership skills.

Andrew C. Jackson '80 is co-founder and president of BravoTECH, a business technology, professional services, and IT staff augmentation firm. Jackson is a recognized leader in the IT community and currently leads the Society for Information Management's new chapter development initiative.

One award for $500 will be awarded to a current undergraduate business student.

Scholarship Candidate Qualifications

Each scholarship candidate must:

• Be an undergraduate student majoring in one or more of the following major sequences in the College of Business:Accounting Information Systems, Business Information Systems, General Marketing, Sales, and/or Entrepreneurship.
• Be actively engaged in a leadership role on campus and/or in the community.

Instructions: 

1. Complete all parts of the application.
2. Write a 250 word essay focused on how the scholarship will help improve your professionalism and leadership skills.  Additionally, share your philosophy on leadership and civic engagement.
3. Provide a copy of your resume.
4. Provide at least one letter of recommendation.
