Students, please read the following information carefully in order to understand how and when overrides are available into College of Business courses for declared majors, declared minors, and non-majors:

Students who are not declared in a College of Business major:

  • will only be permitted to enroll in non-major sections of courses (i.e. FIL 185, MQM 220, MKT 230 and FIL 240).  However, the COB typically removes major-blocks on these courses during Advance Registration, so keep watching the system for updates! If all non-major sections fill and major-blocks are not removed, students can register for these courses once they are admitted into the COB.
  • cannot receive overrides into ACC 270 or MQM 227.  Students can register for these courses once they are admitted, or they can check back the week before the Spring semester begins.
  • can request an override into BUS 100, as long as you are applying into the COB in during our admission process in May or August . In order to request an override, please complete the Course Permit Request (Override).
  • and are currently enrolled in a prerequisite course at another college or university this semester, need to attach an unofficial transcript to the Course Permit Request (Override).
  • but need to take COB courses to meet major requirements, can complete the Course Permit Request (Override). For example, if you are an Agribusiness major who would like to take BE 330, please complete the Override Request form for override consideration.

Students who are declared Business minors:

  • can complete the Course Permit Request (Override) to request an override into major-blocked courses. However, please note that Business Administration minors will only be considered for an override into a major-blocked section if they are graduating in May and all non-major sections are full.

Students who are declared in a College of Business major:

  • will need to contact an academic advisor regarding the waiting list process, if all sections of a course are full.
  • will need to complete the Course Permit Request (Override) if you are experiencing registration blocks, but should not be. For example, if you are enrolled in ACC 131 this semester but you are not permitted to enroll in ACC 132, you will need to complete the Course Permit Request (Override).
  • and are currently enrolled in a prerequisite course at another college or university this semester, need to complete the Prerequisite Override Request form. Copies of this form are in the Advisement Center (SFHB 129). For example, if you are enrolled in the equivalent of MAT 120 at HCC this semester and you would like to enroll in MQM 100 at ISU in the spring, you will need to complete the Prerequisite Override Request form.
