Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management

Entrepreneurship is at the heart of every business. Every large company started out as a small business, led by an entrepreneur. As our economy becomes more volatile, having the skills and knowledge to start a new business may mean the difference between prosperity and poverty.

Entrepreneurial skills are also in demand in established companies. Every business, large or small, must be entrepreneurial just to survive. Innovative thinking has replaced "do it our way" as the rallying cry of the corporation. Students who learn to think independently flourish in chaotic environments and to keep cool under pressure are in high demand.

The Entrepreneurship Sequence is designed to build entrepreneurial skills step by step. Professors, not graduate students, teach classes. We embody a “hands-on” philosophy of teaching, putting our students into real-life entrepreneurial situations. Our program is rigorous, challenging, and most of all, fun.

Course Requirements

In order to graduate, you must complete the following requirements in addition to the College of Business requirements:

Meet all standards for progress in the major including MS Competency and a cumulative 2.5 GPA in all Illinois State classes.

Earn C's in all your required business classes and a 2.0 major and cumulative GPA
Complete General Education Requirements (OR Associates of Arts/Science degree OR I.A.I. – transfer general education)
Earn at least 120 hours toward graduation
Earn a minimum of 42 senior college hours (at the 200 level or above)
Complete Global Studies Requirement (AMALI courses in ISU Gen. Ed. qualify)
Apply for Graduation – COST $35 – through your MyIllinoisState account
