Undergraduate Students

The Risk Management and Insurance program in the College of Business offers an excellent classroom education for students pursuing careers in risk management and insurance. Additionally, the Katie School of Insurance and Risk Management sponsors outstanding experiences outside the classroom to further develop our students through engagement and interaction in the corporate sector.

Insurance is interesting once you realize that you people and businesses can not fully take advantage of their world and the many opportunities presented them without understanding how they can be protected from risks associated with these opportunities. Every time a new risk emerges presenting a new problem, a new opportunity exists for talented insurance professionals to solve this risk problem.  Insurance is both local and global and having this broad perspective makes it more interesting. The Katie School works with students with broad interests and skills and helps them to develop those and better understand how to apply them to risk management and insurance industry.

Current and Prospective Students

If you are considering a career in risk management and insurance, please view a brief presentation on Reasons to Think About a Career in Insurance.  Insurance carriers, insurance agencies and brokerages, typically make up more than half of the job growth within the industry job sector.

Resources

As a Katie School student, many resources are available such as internship, career, professional mentoring, and networking opportunities; on-campus experience opportunities, posting your resume on the Katie School website, scholarships, the Katie School Library located in SFHB 429, and more.

Having a network of professionals and knowing how to develop that network is arguably one of the most critical but often overlooked career assets.
