Chicagoland Risk Forum

Rebex round table The Chicago RIMS Chapter invites Katie School students to attend the Chicagoland Risk Forum each year to enhance their risk management and insurance knowledge.

The conference allows students to learn more about what is currently happening in the marketplace including emerging topics through educational sessions, to meet industry professionals and enhance networking skills, to visit exhibits regarding new services and products within the market, and to have an industry mentor.

The mentoring program is very popular with the students since they spend one-on-one time with a professional who shares experiences and insights about career paths.  The students expand their networks exponentially through the interaction with their mentors.

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

"At the Chicagoland RIsk Forum, I learned a tremendous amount of information throughout the seminar and group meetings with leading professionals in the industry.  I had the privilege to learn about new innovative solutions, opportunities in the industry, and growth for young professionals looking for a career in Risk Management and Insurance.  This experience has been the best one I have received in my college career alone.  The networking conducted in the seminar helped gauge my interest in areas of RMI in which I would love to work!  These professionals were truly genuine, and they gave you uplifting advice that will surely benefit you as a young professional.  As a first-generation student, this seminar truly helped easy my worry, giving me a boost of confidence that I needed, but most importantly, proper discipline and real-life exposure in the world of insurance."  ~ Daniel Rodriguez

"The Chicagoland Risk Forum was an amazing experience for the Katie School students.  At the conference, students were provided with a mentor, and my mentor helped me understand all of the complex concepts mentioned in meetings and breakout sessions.  My favorite part of the Forum was learning about current events in the insurance world and how professionals are trying to tackle these problems.  I connected with multiple individuals and asked for advice regarding my next steps and my future career.  After a day in Chicago, I saw a bit of what my future could be.  I realized how fortunate I am to be part of the Katie School, having access to many opportunities that make me mature as a person and grow as a professional."  ~ Laura Henao Botero

"It was a great opportunity to attend the Chicagoland Risk Forum, and I encourage every student pursuing a career in the risk management and insurance industry to attend.  We were able to listen to professionals talk about current challenges and share what they are doing to move past those hurdles.  The Forum gave us a chance to connect with leaders across the industry who were very welcoming to help us students learn more about the market.  Having an amazing mentor along the way made the Forum even better.  The roundtable discussions, panels, breakout sessions and cocktail reception gave me the chance to expand my knowledge of the industry.  Every student should apply to go to the Chiagoland RIsk Forum!"  ~ Connor Richards

"The Chicagoland Risk Forum was my first in-person conference ever.  I had a really good time throughout the day, and I benefited immensely from attending it.  My mentor was awesome!  She was able to "dumb down" a lot of different aspects of the insurance industry to make the subject at hand easier for me to understand, and she introduced me to many different industry professionals.  I loved that a lot of the executives were humble, yet very proud of being a member of this industry.  I know that in the future I can use these connections to expand my knowledge and broaden my horizons on the different career opportunities that exist in risk management and insurance, and I am very thankful to have been provided with the opportunity to attend this conference by the Katie School." ~ Nicole Sabin

"The Chicagoland Risk Forum was an all-around incredible event.  Pletny of connections were made, and I was given a life-long mentor who is very knowledgeable.  Many panels were led by high-ranking executives who were profound speakers engaging the audience throughout.  The wealth of information available at the Forum provided me with an opportunity like no other.  If you are like me and unsure about what you want your future career to be, any professional at the event can provide insight into your interests!"  ~ Hunter Minassian
